THE VARIOUS TYPES OF MASSAGE THERAPY
Each appointment at The Massage Company is customized to you and your physical and mental needs that day. Our licensed massage therapists are skilled in multiple modalities and will mindfully determine the best types of massage therapy needed to work through a specific problem spot or to help you find the relief you came in for.
This technique targets the deeper layers of your muscles and connective tissue, and is used to release chronic muscle tension and inflammation that contribute to pain and stress. Stressed muscles can block nutrients and oxygen from getting to where they need to go, which leads to inflammation and toxin build up in your connective tissue. Compared to the other types of massage therapy, this modality uses slower, deep pressure strokes to reach your deepest layer of muscles and connective tissue that surround your joints.

Pregnancy can have a significant impact on your body. During pregnancy, your body is altered to make accommodations for the new life within you. Your body experiences rapid changes, adding physical stressors and tension to the psychological anxiety and stress you may already be feeling. It is essential for your health, your partner’s health, and your baby’s health that you find ways to manage this extra stress. Maternity massages are often recommended by physicians as a great and safe relaxation technique. This type of massage therapy uses special techniques to help reduce fluid retention (the primary cause of swelling), offer relief for lower back pain, and overall discomfort you may experience as an expectant mother.
We often make adjustments to the position an expecting mother is worked on, we are very conscious to avoid adding any unnecessary pressure to the abdomen and uterine ligaments while you receive your massage. Additionally, the level of pressure applied to specific areas are adjusted to ensure the comfort of both mom and baby.

Myofascial Release
60 Minute Massage – $100
90 Minute Massage – $130
120 Minute Massage – $150
Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. This essential “time element” has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.)
The use of Myofascial Release allows us to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which our therapists use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. We promote independence through education in proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness. Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.
